Henna Explorations, 2023

This series of compositions is the result of natural dye experimentation. Raw silk was treated with an iron mordant and then dyed in a henna based formula, rendering the peach, brown, and lilac colour-way exhibited here. The irregular, geometric patterns were achieved through various shibori (resist) dye techniques. Future experimentation with large scale yardages will be explored for possible use in garments.
